                                             Chapter 5

Mias opened the door of his manor with Doctor Daveiğa right behind him. The sunny
morning had turned curiously overcast and brisk into the early afternoon. When Mias rode
into town earlier, the citizens had practically dropped everything to take shelter in
their homes. He knew he had a bad temper, but he had not been the one guilty for making
them fearful. Another who shared his face had once burned the town and slaughtered many
of the innocent townspeople; however, the shared appearance was enough reason for the
people to fear Mias. The only man who did not flinch when he opened his door to Mias was
Doctor Thane Daveiğa. A striking blue eye stared at Mias through the sandy blond hair
that spread over his forehead.

"Mathias Decivus..." Thane had greeted him flatly, using Mias's full name. The
young man had been one of the few who survived during the destruction, but at a price.
Thane lost his left eye and since then kept a white, bandage-like patch over it. He
adjusted his suspenders, and shoved his hands into his pockets, "Who is the dame this
time?"

"Am I so predictable?" Mias had replied, raising an eyebrow.

"You have a reputation," He called, collecting his medical bags before Mias could
explain himself, as if it was a habit, "for making women faint during intercourse. I have
to say, though, it has been quite a while since you've called on me."

"This is not quite the same type of situation." Mias ran a hand through his hair.

Thane turned to Mias with a pained expression on his face, "What? Did you put the
poor girl into a coma?"

"No, no, no," Mias waved his hands as if clearing the very thought, "There was an
incident. We were riding Atlas; she pulled the reigns and threw Atlas off-balance, and we
fell..." He had explained quickly. There was no time for details now. Mias turned to walk
out of the doctor's home, but quickly turned back with a finger pointing at Thane, "And
you know very well that they always faint afterward!"

Now Mias and Thane were making their way up the stairs and toward Mias's
bedchambers. Thane finally broke the silence, "Now, Mias, you left her dressed, did you
not?"

"Quiet, you!" Mias snapped. Thane appeared to be a very stern and serious man,
but it was a façade – he was wickedly clever and witty, and very much enjoyed prodding
Mias's nerves with his mockery. Thane would only crack a smile when Mias snapped, like he
was doing this very moment.

Mias quietly opened to door to his bedchambers and peeked his head inside. He let
out a breath that he wasn't aware he was holding. Elle was still there, asleep in his
bed. A small part of his mind had been worried that Elle would have tried to leave again.
She had gotten dangerously close to the forest, and Mias would not allow it to happen
again. Thane followed behind silently as Mias neared the bed. As if sensing their
presence, Elle's eyes fluttered open and landed directly upon them. With a big sigh, Elle
pushed herself up into a sitting position.

"Hello." She greeted Thane with crossed arms and an irritated expression.

"Hello, I am Doctor Thane Daveiğa. What is your name, dear?" Thane asked, setting
his bags down next to the bed and rolling up his sleeves.

"Mirelle Blom. Call me Elle, though." Mias's eyebrow cocked at her use of her
full name; it was quite lovely. Thane took out a pair of spectacles and wiped the lens
for his good eye.

"Well, Elle, I'll take a look at you and see what's so wrong that Mias had to
come running to my doorstep so early. Mias, please leave now." Thane demanded. Mias
stared at Thane in surprise. Thane sighed and glanced at Elle, "I'm only saying this
because of the way she is glaring at you."

Defeated, Mias shook his head and said, "Fine." With that, he exited the room and
decided to wait in the sitting room downstairs. Mias walked straight to the fireplace and
threw the pyramid of logs beside it into the fire pit. By habit, Mias tried to use his
magic to light the fire but growled in frustration when he felt no magic to draw from.
Conveniently, there was flint resting on the mantle that had been covered in dust from
lack of use. Mias made a quick trip to the kitchen to grab a knife. After a few attempts
at striking, the flint and knife finally sparked and ignited the dry bark of the logs.
Mias despised this way of lighting a fire; it was too slow for his liking. Once he got
the flames to grow large enough, he turned and picked up the book he had been reading the
night before.

Mias heard the door upstairs open and close far sooner than he expected, "So? Is
it bad?" Mias asked as Thane walked down the stairs and stepped into the sitting room.

He paused a moment to take off his spectacles, "She will be fine." He began to walk away
but seemed to remember something, "Ah, I was supposed to give you a message from Miss
Elle: 'I told you so.'"

"What? Thane, she was limping and bleeding." Mias pointed out, rising from his seat and
following Thane.

Thane chuckled and placed a hand on Mias's shoulder, "Mias. She is perfectly healthy. She
has a rolled ankle, but it's nothing to worry about. Just let her rest it for a few weeks
and she will be fine."

          "And the bleeding?"

Thane took a breath and looked as if he were searching for the right words, "Mias... It's
normal for a mature young woman like Elle to—"

"Got it." Mias cut him off, realizing it for himself as well as understanding Elle's
message.

"Well, take care. And Mias," Thane said his name sharply, "take care of that girl. She's
very special and she could be good for you."

Thane patted his shoulder and showed himself out of the manor. Mias stood in the same
spot for a moment longer, allowing himself a small grin, before sighing, "Gross..."

(¯`·-..·..-·´¯)

Elle had enjoyed the doctor's company surprisingly. While he examined her ankle,
he had listened to her with a grin on his face as she ranted about Mias. He had left her
with items for her feminine needs as well as a small tin of medicine to relieve the pain
in her ankle. Elle carefully lifted herself out of the bed and began to limp toward the
door. Her hand was reaching for the knob when it turned and the door opened.

It took Mias only seconds to pick her up, "What do you think you're doing?"

"Going to my room to take a bath! Let me down!" Elle groaned while Mias took her
back to the bed. She stretched her arms out as if they would grow long enough to touch
the door, exactly as she used to do when she was a small child.

"Elle, you've got to stay off of your feet. Thane told me that you must rest for
a few weeks."

"You expect me to rest in filth?" Mias set her down on the bed and she raked a hand
through her hair. It felt greasy and dirty, and her fingers even came across a couple of
small leaves. She picked the leaves out and flicked them to the floor to emphasize her
point.

Mias practically stomped to the bathroom door and swung it open, "You may use my bath.
You'll notice it is considerably larger than the other." Elle leaned forward enough to
see; she could not stop her eyes from widening or her jaw from dropping. The tub looked
large enough to accommodate nearly three people. Mias obviously saw her expression and
smirked. With out a word, he stepped into the bathroom and leaned over the tub. Elle
heard the faucet squeak and water splash into the tub.

Mias walked back into the room and lifted Elle off of the bed. She grumbled her
displeasure with crossed arms, but the thought of a hot bath lessened her frustration.
When he let her down, she sat on the edge of the porcelain tub and dipped the tips of her
fingers in the water. A smile tugged on her lips at the sight of bottles of every shape
and size that contained soaps. Mias reached over her head to take a small wicker bowl
from the shelf above. Mias took a handful of jasmine blooms and let them fall gently into
the water. The steaming water magnified the already fragrant jasmine, making Elle's head
buzz from the pleasing scent.

Elle felt a quick tug at the lower back portion of her bodice, which immediately
loosened. With a surge of panic, Elle slammed her hands to her chest to keep the bodice
from slipping off. Whirling around, she screamed, "MIAS!" She sent one hand to slap him
across the face, but he caught her hand. He smiled at her, his eyes dark and yearning,
and kissed the palm of her hand.

"I am glad that you are not seriously injured." He purred into her skin. Her heart raced
painfully. Her terror-stricken mind wanted him to stop, but her body shivered pleasantly
from his touch. Mias's free hand pulled her hair to the side and lips brushed against her
exposed neck. 'Stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it STOP IT!'

His fingers let go of her hair and curled on top of her hand that kept the bodice up. She
felt his breath against her cheek. He gently tugged her earlobe with his teeth. A spike
of ecstasy shot up through Elle and the smallest of gasps slipped out of her mouth. Ever
so slightly, he tugged her hand away and she let it fall into her lap; her body wasn't
even trying to put up a fight!

Suddenly, when Mias went to pull her bodice down, Elle gained control of her body and
elbowed him in the stomach. She heard the whoosh of breath that left Mias's lungs. Elle
quickly covered herself with her arms as she stood and quickly limped to the sink. When
he regained his composure, Mias stood up straight and smoothed his hair back.

"Don't. Touch. Me." Elle said through her teeth.

"It's not becoming of a woman to harm people," Mias growled, "and for the record, that's
the second time you've done so."

"Well, it's rude to force yourself on people," Elle sneered, "and 'for the record,' this
is the second time you've done it to me. I don't enjoy it, Mias!"

"Then you shouldn't make those kinds of noises if you don't enjoy the affection!"

Elle couldn't believe him, "You pompous, self-righteous ass! I didn't want the affection
in the first place! I didn't want you to take me here the night of the party! I want you
to take me home; I want to go HOME!"

"YOU CAN'T GO HOME!" Mias roared, his eyes flashed dangerously, "I don't want to take you
home! I don't have the magical energy to take you home!"

"What does that even mean?!" Elle shrieked, breathing hard.

"YOU ARE IN ÆVØLD, ELLE! I took you from your home you call 'Earth' and brought you here
with magic!" Mias yelled exasperatedly, his voice rough, "Putting you into a state of
unconsciousness; bringing you here; levitating and silencing you; healing myself – what
did you think it was, Elle?"

The words hit her and nearly knocked the very air from her lungs. They resonated and
echoed within her head like a broken record. She couldn't bring herself to make a noise
or even move. Elle stared at Mias in disbelief and felt hot tears sting the corners of
her eyes.

"No..." She whispered, her voice was already horse from the painful lump forming in her
throat, "No, no, no, no, no..." She hugged her arms tighter around herself and sank to
her knees. She thought of the night sky that seemed so unfamiliar to her, now knowing
that it was a completely foreign one. She had stared up at the aberrant constellations
and accepted them as Earth's without a second thought. A flare of rage sparked inside of
Elle. She was getting ready to tell Mias to leave, but when she looked up, he was already
gone. Elle crawled to the door, shut it, and turned the lock until it clicked.

Elle stood, careful to keep weight off of her injured ankle. She took in her surroundings
as if they had suddenly changed into strange objects. Even the very dress she had on
seemed different somehow, maybe because it was yet another reminder that she was in a
completely different world. She shimmied out of the dress and removed her undergarments.
The air chilled her bare skin and a shiver went up her spine. Elle faced the mirror over
the sink and stared into the exact replica of her own eyes. Elle lightly touched her
cheek. She was the same person – her fingers ran over the spots where Mias's lips had
been – wasn't she?

Elle shook her head to clear her thoughts. She went to the tub and climbed in. She sunk
into the hot water, dipping her head under. When Elle came back up, hot tears mixed into
the water. She sat in the tub sobbing, for how long she didn't know.

Elle limped out of the bathroom to find a nightgown and clean undergarments folded on the
bed. Elle dressed and sighed. The nightgown was snug around her bust and was cut with a
deep v-neck. She pressed her palms against her temples and willed her anger to die down.
She gathered all of her things and went to leave Mias's room.

          The knob did not turn.

          It was locked.

She let everything drop from her arms, staring at the doorknob in disbelief. With both
hands, she tried to turn the knob, tried to force it with all of her might, but it did
not budge.

She pounded against the door, "Mias! Let me out!" There was no answer.

          She hammered her fist against the door, minutes passed;

          She slapped her hand against the door, hours passed;

She half-heartedly thudded her hand against the door. Tears ran down her cheeks.

(¯`·-..·..-·´¯)

Mias sat against the wall. He heard no more noise coming from behind the door except for
a light sobbing. He could not yet decide whether or not he felt bad for his actions...

Y U NO FEEL BAD, MIAS?! :icony-u-noplz:

FINALLY!
I hope everything flows well, because I was loopy from medicine while writing most of Elle's point of view.

I was thinking to myself "Well, wouldn't it suck to be taken to a different realm unexpectedly and then that time of the month happens to make everything worse?"

I'm just trying to be a tiny bit realistic, but this will definitely be the ONLY time that I bring the subject up in this entire story.

New character!! And he's a doctor! :meow:
