                                             Chapter 26

At dusk, Mias jolted from his slumber when his body sensed the carriage coming to
a halt. The horses were snorting and lightly stomping the ground, ready for their next
task. Mias leaned over to look out the window and take in his surroundings. What he
didn't expect was to recognize the perfectly familiar surroundings. He felt breathless
staring up at his own manor. The feeling intensified when he spotted Atlas and a second
steed nibbling on grass nearby. At the very least, it meant that Tovi was fine.

Mias stumbled out of the carriage and nearly broke down the front doors in his
haste to get inside the manor. "Tovi!" He called looking around and ready to sprint up
the steps to find him.

"Mias?" Tovi peeked his head around the corner on Mias's left that lead to the
kitchen. His eyes were wide when he saw Mias, "Mias!" Tovi practically crashed into Mias,
locking his arms around Mias's waist. "You're back! And you're alive!"

Mias squeezed his little brother tightly, thankful that Tovi had made it back in
one piece. Mias glanced up at the sound of footsteps and saw Thane with a surprised
expression. Mias let go of Tovi and nodded to Thane. He nodded back and stepped forward,
stretching out one arm to give Mias a half-hug.

"How did you manage to get back here?" Thane asked.

"Later," Mias answered vaguely. "Thane, I need your help. We need to get—"

"—Elle? About that... She's..." Thane pointed over Mias's head.

Mias whirled around and beheld a truly relieving sight. Elle stood atop the
stairs, staring directly at him.

"Elle... You got her?" He asked to the side.

"Yeah, safe and sound." Tovi answered proudly.

"However, Mias," Thane started, but Mias was already approaching the steps. Mias
ignored him, staring up into Elle's angelic face. Her expression seemed confused. Mias
stopped when Elle took a slight step back.

"Mias, she has no memories of what happened that night or anything that came
before." Tovi stated with force, "All because of Elias,"

He gulped, still staring up at Elle.

"Elle," He said quietly. She bit her lip, still appearing skittish. "Elle, it's
me. Mias."

"M-Mias?" Elle repeated. Even though she appeared anxious, he could tell she was
intrigued.

"Can you remember anything about me?" Reluctantly, she nodded. "Like what?"

Elle shrugged and whispered, "Just a little bit... I'm not sure what, though..."

"What about where you came from? Do you remember your home?" Mias asked, prodding
her brain gently. She shook her head.

"But you remember things about Mias?" Thane asked from below. "Mias, this is
good! I don't think she's had that reaction to anyone else."

"Is that so?" Mias asked softly. He knew he should be angrier, but looking at
Elle stirred sadness instead. She had lost her memories; therefore, herself. He figured
the rage would seep in later when it was appropriate. "Will you let me help?"

"Can you bring back my memories?"

"I can try. Do you trust me?" Mias asked, now standing on the step below Elle.
She held his gaze and nodded. Tears began to pool in her eyes, and Mias could see she was
desperate to remember. He reached up and cupped her face in his hands. He felt his
energy's fibers all around him and drew the magic from them. He willed his own memories
of his time with Elle to seep across the magical connection he made with Elle. They
played in his mind, clear as day, and from Elle's expression, she could definitely see
them as well. He didn't hide anything from her. Not even the instances that she called
him a pervert, or the instances where he really was being perverted. He shared the final
piece of the puzzle: the night that Elias found her in the Estate and escaped with her
unconscious through the night. "Please remember," He whispered as he released the magical
fiber. Elle seemed dazed, and her eyes came back into focus to meet Mias's.

"Mias?" She said calmly. In a snap, her eyes flooded with recognition, and before
he could defend himself, her palm slapped him hard across the face. His cheek stung, but
he didn't react. Tears gushed out of the corners of Elle's eyes, "You didn't do anything
to stop him, you useless git!" She sobbed out, but despite her tone, she threw her arms
around his neck. Mias brought his arms up and clutched the fabric of her nightgown and he
hugged her as tight as he could. "Don't ever make me go through that kind of thing
again!" The cloth of his shirt muffled her voice.

"I won't ever let you get hurt again." Mias murmured.

"I'll hold you to that," She said quietly, still muffled.

Standing holding Elle, Mias felt flares of heat rise from his core, and suddenly
it was becoming more and more difficult to keep from ravaging her right then and there.
It felt as though it had been too long since he saw her – touched her. The memories he
played for her, still fresh in his mind, reminded him of how long he had spent teasing
her. However, in the process, her blushing face and wandering eyes ended up teasing him
just as much – to the point where it now tortured him with desire.

He squeezed her shoulder slightly and began to walk her to his room. Once inside,
she continued to cling to his shirt. Mias leaned back slightly so he could see Elle. Her
cheeks were pink and stained with tears, and her lips were slightly swollen from her
crying. He cupped her face once more and brought it to his. He caressed her lips lightly
with his, gradually increasing the pressure. A shiver shot through him when he felt the
warmth of her tongue glide across his lower lip. He considered it to be her permission
and deepened the kiss. Her fingers, whether she was meaning to or not, snaked through his
hair. Before long, they were both breathless and ravenously craving more, but somehow
they resisted. It was not the time, no matter how eager they were.

"I'm shocked you haven't called me a pervert yet." Mias breathed. He had his eyes
closed and his forehead resting on Elle's, enjoying the feeling of merely being in her
presence. "I thought you didn't enjoy me forcing myself upon you."

"Don't go getting too proud of yourself." Elle said shakily.

"Elle?" He opened his eyes to see Elle's chin quivering as she held back more
tears that threatened to pour out. Mias pulled her as close as he could and held her
tight. "I'm here, Elle. I'm here." He whispered soothingly. As her breathing became heavy
and uneven with her sobs, Mias simply stroked her hair and whispered into her ear. Over
and over again he reassured her that everything was fine.

He understood. In a matter of seconds, the gaps in her memories were filled. It
was a lot for one person to handle. He would need to have Thane check up on her general
well-being in the morning – as well as catch up with all he had missed. For now, however,
they needed a full night's rest.

(¯`·-..·..-·´¯)

Elle sniffled and wiped at her eyes, now exhausted from crying. Mias quietly led
her to the bed and covered her with the thick top sheet. Within moments, he was on the
other side climbing under the sheets and removing his shirt in the process.

Mias sat against the headboard and beckoned her, "Come here,"

She quickly obliged, not feeling ashamed as she normally would have. Elle
snuggled up against Mias's side as he wrapped an arm around her. He lightly stroked her
shoulder, and with his other hand he teased hers. She couldn't help smiling a little
every time he would go to intertwine their fingers and trick her by moving his hand at
the last second. Elle felt his chest rumble with a slight chuckle. She became
concentrated on doing the same to him.

She feigned being upset and Mias finally gave in with a grin, "Fine,"

Just as he went in to hold her hand, she moved hers away as quickly as possible,
"Psyche!" She exclaimed quietly.

Mias chuckled again, "Good one, but the joke is on you, my dear." He gestured
downward with his eyes. It was only then that Elle realized exactly where her hand had
ended up when she moved it. The heat rose in her cheeks as she carefully pulled her hand
to a safe place.

"I didn't mean for that..." Elle whispered quickly, averting her eyes.

"Of course you did." Mias teased, "Your subconscious did it for you since you
weren't going to of your own free will."

          "Pervert," Elle grumbled.

Mias only laughed more. He brought his face close to her cheek, whispering in her
ear, "I rather like your subconscious," There was a smile in his tone and Elle knew he
was going to continue teasing her until one of them fell asleep.

"I'm starting to wonder why I was missing you so much..."

"Don't be that way, love," Mias purred into her ear.

Elle smirked to herself, "I'm also starting to miss not remembering you."

"Oh-ho! That was cold," He nipped her earlobe and it sent shivers through her body.

"I'm going to bed now." Elle said flatly, closing her eyes.

"Simply frigid." Mias sighed in defeat, sliding down to a laying position and
taking Elle with him.

"Good night," Elle bid him pleasantly.

There was a slight pause, and then she felt his lips press against the top of her
head. "Sweet dreams, Elle." Slowly, Mias continued to gently brush his fingers over her
arm until sleep carried both of them away.

Outside the window, a small blackbird chirped, ruffling its feathers to brace
itself for the cold night's air.

What is this? FLUFF?! :iconscreamingplz:

Nahh, it's cool. I needed to write some fluff. It cheered me up from last night. Elle's memories are back! And I don't give a crap if it feels like it was too fast! I need the memory loss to be done with! The plot must go on!

And before someone inevitably asks, Elle's hand was on Mias's bulge. :iconmiaswinkplz:

Thanie-poo is going to be pretty big in the next chapter! :la:

(YAY, I got something on my list done!) TTvTT

I LOVE fluff! I have to say, this is my favorite chapter so far. And I really should be going to bed now, it's one in the morning here. But I just couldn't until Elle got her memory back.
